Pickleball 101
Experience the Excitement of the Sport Everyone’s Talking About
Pickleball is more than just a sport, it’s a community. Combining the best of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, Pickleball creates an accessible and engaging game for all ages and skill levels. It’s perfect for families, friends, or players looking for fun and fitness.
How To Play Pickleball - The Fundamentals
Pickleball can be played as either singles (one player per side) or doubles (two players per side) and the first team to reach 11 points with at least a 2-point lead wins the game.
Serving
The game starts with an underhand serve diagonally across the court. The serve must land in the opposite service area and clear the non-volley zone (or “kitchen”).
Scoring
Games are typically played to 11 points, and you must win by 2. Only the serving team can score points, and after winning a point, they switch sides and serve again.
The Kitchen Rule
Players aren’t allowed to volley (hit the ball in the air) while standing in the non-volley zone, also known as “the kitchen.” This encourages longer rallies and strategic play.
Double Bounce
After the serve, each team must let the ball bounce once on their side before returning it. This helps keep the game controlled and prevents immediate net smashes.
